Let’s be clear. The only reason for this is because venture capitalist Tim Draper doesn’t want his tax payer money to help poor people outside of his very wealthy community.

Well that and the mythical state of Jefferson, which originally also included southern Oregon, has people who really hate having to share constituency with the rest of liberal California and want their own conservative-voting state.

Not to mention it’s clearly unconstitutional under Article IV, Section 3, Clause 1, you can’t form a new state from a previous state. Which the intention of putting this clause into the constitution was to prevent the break up of the larger states…

The clause actually says, “without consent of the legislatures if the states and of congress.” So, I guess they could get away with it. If people vote for it and congress gives it’s blessing, which republicans will be eager to do right?
